A nominally normal person who has become somewhat subordinate to bizarre desires and abducts woman and kills her finds himself in a great deal of panic. And all he wants to do is put distance between himself and the result of his activities. Having done that (there would be) a fair degree of relief, so to speak. At least to the high state of anxiety that he was in when he was actually in possession of the body.

While in prison, Ted Bundy was subjected to a psychological evaluation that the court had previously requested. In Anne Rule’s book The Stranger Beside Me , she stated that psychologists found Bundy to be neither “psychotic, neurotic, the victim of organic brain disease, alcoholic, addicted to drugs, suffering from a character disorder or amnesia, and was not a sexual deviate.” The psychologists concluded that he had a “strong dependency on women, and deduced that that dependency was suspect.” Upon further evaluation, they concluded that Ted had a “fear of being humiliated in his relationships with women.”

There’s no reason why. It’s just that you have an incident looking for a place to happen. There’s no reason why… That’s when we try to analyse human behaviour. We can not explain it. We can’t explain every facet of it. At some point we act the way we do because of the stimuli we’re exposed to and the environment we live in.

Ted denies a police theory that detectives had a fuzzy photo of his light colored VW bug at Lake Sammamish the day two girls disappear.

Bundy: “I don’t want to burst your bubble. It is an interesting coincidence.”
